9:15AM - Keynote: Big Value with Big Data

Data is transforming industries and creating massive value for businesses. It can help us better understand our world, build innovative products and services, and manage operational risk and compliance. Taking advantage of these opportunities, including the internet of things, requires a modern approach to working with data, and success takes more than just applying new technologies like Apache Hadoop. Join us to learn how to get started on your journey to a data strategy.

Amr Awadallah - CTO and Co-Founder, Cloudera

10:15AM - Delivering User Behaviour Analytics at Apache Hadoop Scale

Cristina Roa - VP Global Strategic Initiatives – SNYPR,  Securonix

10:30AM - Networking Break

Take a short break from presentations and recharge your batteries with drinks and refreshments in the exhibition area. Spend time with the event sponsors and learn how they work with Cloudera to help you get value from all of your data.

11:00AM - Customer Use Cases

This session will focus on the way customers are utilising the Cloudera platform to drive business performance across retail, telecommunications and financial services.

Mark Samson - Principal Systems Engineer, Cloudera

11:30AM - Petascale Genomics with Apache Hadoop

The advent of next-generation DNA sequencing technologies is poised to revolutionize the way life sciences research is practiced. These new technologies are scaling significantly faster than Moore’s law, and promise to catapult life sciences research and the biotech industry into the realm of big data. However, bioinformatics and data management in the life sciences has been slow to adopt the latest big data technologies pioneered by the internet industry (e.g. Google and Facebook), in part because these tools are only beginning to become necessary today.

This session will review several ways in which distributed computing tools (e.g., the Hadoop ecosystem) can be used to significantly advance the state of the art in life sciences research. It will cover the ADAM and GATK projects for doing genomics ETL on top of Spark, and will touch on tools like Hadoop, Spark, Impala, and Kudu among others. This talk is not only for people interested in biology or genomics, since the techniques used for data storage and analytics apply equally well to other domains too.

Tom White - Principal Data Scientist, Cloudera

12:00PM - Panel Discussion: Reducing Fraud and Business Risk in the Age of Digital Transformation

All verticals are under attack for their trade secrets, intellectual property and customer data by actors with various motives and capabilities. Reducing risk and fraud is now a top priority for Boards, CEO’s, CISO’s, CRO’s and CDO’s.

Yet how do you tackle the challenges and avoid massive reputational, monetary, and intellectual property losses? Why are traditional approaches and systems no longer sufficient to address the problems?  Join this panel discussion to hear how from customers and partners alike.Facilitator:

Hadoop and Spark Essentials

New to Hadoop and Spark or still need to sharpen your understanding? Trying to figure out what Sqoop, Flume or Hive are and what they can be used for? If so, you’re not alone. Hands on Hadoop and Spark is the ultimate guide to help you take your understanding to the next level. Join Cloudera as we take you through the origins of Hadoop, discuss existing and new projects, what they are used for, and how you can apply Hadoop and Spark to modernise your data architecture.

Presenter: Per Andersson - Systems Engineer, Cloudera

Architecture Modernization - New approaches to data engineering using Apache Hadoop

As your company aims to integrate more data sources, new approaches can help you ensure better analytical models based on the best data and that future data types will not present added complication. Whether you are looking to modernise and extend your existing data warehouse environment or build new real-time data pipelines an enterprise data hub architecture gives you the right tools to achieve more value from your data. Common Data Engineering use cases, from offloading existing platforms to incorporating new datasets.

What you will learn:

  • Common data integration use cases, from offloading existing platforms to incorporating new datasets

  • How modern Hadoop components such as Spark and Kafka enable data integration at scale

  • Common projects risks and how to avoid them

Presenters:

Mark Samson - Principal Systems Engineer, Cloudera

Mike Merritt-Holmes - VP Global Service Strategy, Think Big

Driving a True Customer 360 with Apache Hadoop
