Apache Spark is one of the most popular open source projects today, and for good reason. This general purpose data processing framework for Hadoop provides huge advantages to data engineers and data scientists - with powerful, easy to use APIs and faster performance for batch and stream processing. Spark has been adopted by hundreds of organizations across a wide range of industries to power some of the most cutting edge use cases.
With its popularity, development ease, and performance benefits, Spark is primed to become the next general processing layer for Hadoop - succeeding MapReduce. Join Cloudera to learn more about this powerful tool and how we are uniting Spark and Hadoop into a cohesive, enterprise-grade platform through the One Platform Initiative.
During this Lunch n' Learn, Josh Robinson at Cloudera will discuss:
What Spark is and how it fits into the Hadoop ecosystem
Real world use cases from Cloudera customers
The One Platform Initiative and where Spark is headed
Josh has worked for Enterprise manufacturers from Hardware and High End Unix vendors to the leader in traditional Data Management. In those positions he has worked with customers from regional educators to international financial institutions, developing solutions that drive value from existing infrastructure and new projects that expand their value opportunities. Josh has been working in the big data space for the last 3 years enabling customer to collect, analyze, and drive new insights with their data. His recent project include working with customers to implement ingestion and analysis of whole genomes, centralizing data from siloed R&D for a pharmaceuticals manufacture, and using real time click stream and video viewership data to do market analysis in near real time.
