This is the documentation for Cloudera Manager 4.8.6. Documentation for other versions is available at Cloudera Documentation.

Cloudera Manager 4 and CDH 4 have reached End of Maintenance (EOM) on August 9, 2015. Cloudera will not support or provide patches for any of the Cloudera Manager 4 or CDH 4 releases after that date.

What's New in Cloudera Manager 4.6.0

  • The Free Edition of Cloudera Manager is now a part of Cloudera Standard, and has been enhanced to include many features formerly restricted to a subscription license:
    • Multi-Cluster Management -- Manage multiple CDH clusters from a single instance of Cloudera Manager.
    • Centralized Management & Global Historical View -- Manage CDH from a central console and correlate all views along a configurable timeline to simplify diagnosis.
    • Activity Monitoring -- Consolidate all cluster activities into a single, real-time view including job details, job comparisons and task distribution across the cluster.
    • Proactive Health Checks for Service and Host Monitoring -- Intelligent health checks on hosts, roles and services, based on hundreds of different key performance metrics. Tunable thresholds allow you to customize alerts for your environment.
    • Customizable Charts -- Access thousands of metrics collected from your clusters, and build custom chart views with support for faceting and data transformation.
    • Security Management -- Configure and manage security across the cluster - including Kerberos authentication and role-based (administrator and read-only) administration.
    • Intelligent Log Management -- Search all your cluster logs from Cloudera Manager for convenient diagnostics. Additionally, you can configure log monitoring to trigger events and alerts on certain messages.

  • A 60-day Trial License lets you test the fully functional Enterprise version of Cloudera Manager for 60 days without needing an Enterprise license. This includes a trial of the Cloudera Navigator and Backup and Disaster Recovery products. At the end of 60 days, Cloudera Manager reverts to Cloudera Standard if you have not installed an Enterprise license.
  • New features available in both Cloudera Standard and Cloudera Enterprise:
    • Support for JobTracker High Availability.
    • Support for installing and managing the Cloudera Search Beta release.
    • Support for a new service (Sqoop2) and new role (WebHCat).
    • Enhanced monitoring for the Impala service and Impala Query monitoring.
    • API access to tsquery for accessing timeseries data.
    • Support for alerting on configuration changes.
  • New features available in Cloudera Enterprise only:
    • Host-by-host rolling restart.
    • API access to Operational Reports.
  • API access to Cloudera Navigator is now supported (with the appropriate license).
  • Several bugs have been fixed: see Known Issues Fixed In Release 4.6.0 for details of the most noteworthy.
