Agenda

Morning Session - for business decision-makers

8:00am - Breakfast in the Partner Pavilion

8:30am - Cloudera Keynote: Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Future of Big Data Analytics

Presented by Mike Olson, Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer, Cloudera

Businesses and organizations of all sizes are suddenly flooded in data from a hyper-connected world and need solutions to analyze and act upon it. Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have emerged to help understand patterns in the data, predict outcomes, and prescribe the optimal actions to impact those outcomes. New use cases for machine learning are emerging every day – ranging from predictive maintenance and fraud detection, to product recommendation engines and proactive customer support. Gain first-hand experience into how some of the world’s best organizations are using data-driven insights to grow their businesses, operate more efficiently and manage risk.

9:10am - Back To Artificial Intelligence

Presented by Dr. Wayne Thompson, Chief Data Scientist, SAS

The latest emphasis on building and deploying deep learning algorithms on massive in memory computers has really brought AI back in vogue. We can now analyze enormous quantities of images and audio for all kinds of applications. Also through combining deep learning with improved natural language processing methods we now have the opportunity to develop cognitive computing (CC) applications that can truly reason and learn. Bots driven by deep learning are popping up everywhere.  With this technological innovation, organizations can now cost effectively put both AI and CC to work with cheap, commodity hardware and data. As a result, the dream is becoming reality as the artificial intelligence evolution is finally maturing.

In this session we will see a live demo of how SAS is using natural language interaction to drive exploratory data analyses from SAS Visual Analytics.

9:30am - A Systemic Approach to Cognitive: Steps to Achieve Results & Examples of Client Success

Presented by Ashish Verma, Managing Director, Deloitte Consulting LLP

Artificial intelligence and machine learning have evolved to become commercially viable and are driving disruption and exponential growth across businesses. Many forward-thinking leaders are optimistic about transforming their operations with cognitive technologies, but fail to realize success because often the project does not have well-defined use cases and the right technologies in place to integrate into the existing architecture. Hear from Deloitte Consulting LLP’s Ashish Verma, CTO and Big Data leader in the Analytics & Information Management practice, on key steps to get started when applying cognitive technologies to your business. He’ll also share client examples of Deloitte’s implementation of cognitive technology to help solve the new and complex business problems that may be too hard to solve with conventional technologies.

9:50am - Coffee break in the Partner Pavilion

10:20am - How Retail Banks Optimize Customer Journey Analytics by Driving Value from their Data Lakes

Presented by Kaushik Deka, CTO, Novantas

Gaining insights into the breadth, depth, persistence and potential of a customer relationship enables smarter business decisions. This requires a deep understanding of customer behavioral characteristics and a framework for doing customer journey analytics at scale. In this session, Kaushik Deka, CTO of Novantas, is going to discuss the central tenets of a Spark-based analytics solution, built on Cloudera EDH, that banks are leveraging to analyze customer journey and optimize outcomes to drive value from their data lakes.

Kaushik will provide insights on:

·        The critical component parts of the customer relationship life cycle – and the volumes of useful data generated at each stage.

·        How banks are leveraging this data and behavioral analytics to make customer-level decisions in pricing and marketing.

·        The key technology catalysts behind MetricScape - a specialized solution to resolve the data engineering and data governance challenges                while doing customer longitudinal analysis from an ever-growing collection of data sources.

·        How MetricScape integrates with the Cloudera EDH platform.

10:40am - Big Data in Finance

Presented by Patrick Angeles, Chief Architect, Financial Services, Cloudera

Financial institutions have long been early adopters of data management technology: mainframes, relational databases, data warehouses, and now big data platforms. In this talk, we look at how banks and other financial institutions are using big data technology to solve their problems and change their business.

11:00am - Customer Panel: Turning Data into Real Business Value

Speakers:

  • Steven Allen, Vice President, First Data
  • Jim Haas, Principal Architect, ADP DataCloud
  • Chris Ingrassia, Manager, Engineering, Yashi
  • Steve Totman, Financial Services Industry Lead, Cloudera (moderator)

11:30am - Lunch

Afternoon Session - for technical decision-makers

11:30am - Lunch

12:15pm - Cloudera Technical Keynote: Let's Tech This Up a Notch

Presented by Steven Totman, Subject Matter Expert, Cloudera

Data is the fuel for strategic differentiation in today’s market. However, legacy systems weren’t designed to keep up with the influx of data from a hyper-connected world, nor can they  support the real-time insights that provide value to the business. Companies must evolve or risk being left behind by competitors that are implementing machine learning and artificial intelligence or migrating applications and infrastructure to the cloud. Find out how a modern platform for data science, analytics, operations, and real-time applications can transform data into your most valuable business asset.

12:55pm - Ask the Experts Panel

Join this open Q&A session with a few of our strategic partners who are instrumental in helping our customers make the impossible today, possible tomorrow.

  • Hjalmar Gislason, VP, Data, Product Management, Qlik
  • Jonathan Gray, Founder and CEO, Cask
  • Shant Hovsepian, Co-founder and CTO, Arcadia Data
  • Dave Normandeau, American Sales & Global Business Development, Big Data, Syncsort
  • Don Durrang, Regional VP, Strategic, East, Cloudera (moderator)

1:25pm - Coffee break in the Partner Pavilion

1:45pm - Breakout Sessions (Track A: Cloudera in the Cloud; Track B: Modernizing BI & Analytics)

Track A: Hadoop in the Cloud

Presented by Stefan Salandy, Sales Engineer, Cloudera

From speeding deployment times, to lowering TCO, to driving greater workforce agility, cloud infrastructure can deliver a number of benefits back to your business. In this session, we will cover how to run your Hadoop workloads on public cloud, optimizing for cluster transience, elasticity, object-store integration, and flexible pricing.

Track B: Modernizing BI & Analytics

Presented by Paul Mac Farland, Prinicipal Sales Engineer, Cloudera and Arvind Prabhakar, VP, Marketing, Streamsets

Business intelligence and analytics continue to be the lifeblood of business. But many enterprises are stuck in a pattern of simply trying to keep up with the status quo, instead of shifting for the future to take on new and changing data types, get real-time insights, and optimize for the cloud. In this session, we will cover the key drivers for modernizing the analytic database, the technologies that bring high-performance SQL to big data, and how you can ultimately get more value from your data all at a lower cost.

2:40pm - Breakout Sessions (Track A: Data Science in the Enterprise; Track B: Cloudera in the Cloud)

Track A: Data Science on Hadoop

Presented by Jordan Volz, Sales Engineer, Cloudera and Amit Rawlani, Technology Alliances and Solutions Manager, Pentaho

Self-service data science is easier said than delivered, especially on Apache Hadoop. Most organizations struggle to balance the diverging needs of the data scientist, data engineer, operator, and architect. This talk will cover the underlying root causes and introduce new capabilities being developed to make self-service data science a reality.

Track B: Hadoop in the Cloud

Presented by Stefan Salandy, Sales Engineer, Cloudera

From speeding deployment times, to lowering TCO, to driving greater workforce agility, cloud infrastructure can deliver a number of benefits back to your business. In this session, we will cover how to run your Hadoop workloads on public cloud, optimizing for cluster transience, elasticity, object-store integration, and flexible pricing.
