Tom has a distinguished 30-year career in the enterprise software market. Prior to Cloudera, his most recent role was as vice president and general manager of enterprise security at HP. Previous to HP, Tom served as CEO of enterprise security company ArcSight , which HP acquired in 2010. Tom led ArcSight through a successful initial public offering and subsequent sale to HP. Before ArcSight, Tom was vice president of business information services for IBM, following the acquisition of Trigo Technologies Inc., a master data management (MDM) software company, where he had served as CEO. Tom currently serves as a Board Member for Jive Software, privately held Ombud Inc., ThreatStream Inc. and Cloudera. Tom graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Mike (@mikeolson) co-founded Cloudera in 2008 and served as its CEO until 2013 when he took on his current role of chief strategy officer (CSO.) As CSO, Mike is responsible for Cloudera’s product strategy, open source leadership, engineering alignment and direct engagement with customers. Prior to Cloudera Mike was CEO of Sleepycat Software, makers of Berkeley DB, the open source embedded database engine. Mike spent two years at Oracle Corporation as vice president for Embedded Technologies after Oracle’s acquisition of Sleepycat in 2006. Prior to joining Sleepycat, Mike held technical and business positions at database vendors Britton Lee, Illustra Information Technologies and Informix Software. Mike has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
Jim has over 25 years of experience in finance and operational leadership with global technology companies. Prior to joining Cloudera, Jim served as CFO of Yodlee, the leading provider of cloud-based personal financial management solutions (acquired by Envestnet). Prior to Yodlee, Jim served as CFO of Ariba (acquired by SAP) where he helped lead the company through several strategic initiatives including establishing Ariba as a leader in spend management solutions and transitioning the company’s business model from a traditional enterprise application vendor to a SaaS/cloud company. Earlier in his career, Jim held various financial and executive positions at Avery Dennison Corporation and IBM. A certified public accountant, Jim has a BS in accounting from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA in international business and finance from New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
Amr Awadallah, Ph.D.
Before co-founding Cloudera in 2008, Amr (@awadallah) was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Accel Partners. Prior to joining Accel he served as Vice President of Product Intelligence Engineering at Yahoo!, and ran one of the very first organizations to use Hadoop for data analysis and business intelligence. Amr joined Yahoo after they acquired his first startup, VivaSmart, in July of 2000. Amr holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University, Egypt, and a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
Doug (@cutting) is the founder of several successful open source projects, including Lucene, Nutch, Avro, and Hadoop. Doug joined Cloudera in 2009, after previously working at Yahoo!, Excite, Apple, and Xerox PARC. Doug holds a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and is the former Chairman of the Board of the Apache Software Foundation.
Prior to co-founding Cloudera, Jeff (@hackingdata) conceived, built, and led the Data team at Facebook. The Data team was responsible for inventing and building powerful data analysis applications on Hadoop. That system is the core data platform at Facebook for improving the user experience and driving revenue. Before he joined Facebook, Jeff worked as a quantitative analyst on Wall Street. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Harvard University.
Daniel Sturman, Ph.D.
Prior to Cloudera Dan was at Google where he led development of cloud products including Google Compute Engine, Google App Engine, and Kubernetes as well as the internal cluster management systems that manage all computation across Google’s fleet of servers. Daniel was also closely involved in the growth of Google’s New York office, leading a team working on a range of challenges faced by Google’s internal software infrastructure.
Previous to Google, Daniel was director of development for DB2 on Linux, Unix and Windows in IBM's Information Management division. Daniel started at IBM as a researcher at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, where his research focused on revolutionizing the way people build and use distributed systems. His research concentrated on technologies for enterprise messaging and cluster computing.
He holds a Ph.D. and master's degree in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor's degree in computer science from Cornell University.
David is Cloudera's Chief Legal Officer. He is responsible for all legal, regulatory, compliance, and corporate governance matters. He has over 20 years of legal experience, representing and advising companies on a wide variety of legal matters. Prior to Cloudera, David was the EVP and General Counsel for cloud software provider Ariba, Inc. David was a leader of Ariba’s legal team from its time as a private company through its IPO, and later culminating in its sale to SAP. After Ariba's sale to SAP, David served as the EVP and General Counsel of SAP's subsidiary responsible for cloud software sales. David began his legal career in private practice at a San Francisco law firm. He received his B.A. with high honors from the University of California, Los Angeles and his law degree from Stanford Law School, where he was an editor for the Law Review.
Vishal Rao has over 15 years of sales leadership experience. He joined Cloudera in March 2015 and serves as the Senior Vice President of Field Operations responsible for global Sales, Services and Business and Corporate Development. Prior to Cloudera Rao was Vice President, Worldwide Field Sales at leading operational intelligence software company, Splunk for five years. At Splunk he was responsible for growing revenues in excess of $450m. Rao has also held leadership sales positions at BMC Software, Inc. and at IBM. Mr. Rao holds a Bachelors in International Business and Marketing from Richmond, the American International University in London.
Charles (@zedlewski) joined Cloudera from SAP where he held various management roles in product strategy, management and operations. During his time at SAP Charles led the development of a half a dozen new and follow-on releases for products that supported some of SAP’s major growth initiatives in GRC, Sustainability, and EPM. Many of these products received substantial critical acclaim and collectively generated more than a hundred million dollars in new product revenues. Prior to SAP Charles held product roles at BEA Systems and venture backed software startups. Charles holds a bachelor’s degree from Carleton College and an MBA from MIT.
Paul Beduhn serves as VP of Field Technical Services at Cloudera, with more than 30 years of experience in the software industry. Prior to Cloudera Mr. Beduhn was Chief Executive Officer and President of Vision Chain Inc.. Mr. Beduhn also served as Senior Vice President of TIBCO in Palo Alto, California, where Mr. Beduhn was responsible for worldwide software and consulting revenues and staff, consultants and trainers. Mr. Beduhn has served in senior management positions at some of the fastest growth software companies including Inktomi, MicroStrategy, and Sybase. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison with a degree in Computer Science and System Analysis.
Tim is responsible for driving business development, strategic partnership initiatives and market growth strategies. Tim joins Cloudera from QuinStreet, where he served as Senior Vice President of Business and Corporate Development, as well as President of International Operations, all in support of the company going public during his tenure. Prior to QuinStreet, Tim served as Senior Vice President of Business Services at Borland Software and Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Inktomi. Tim holds B.S. degrees in Finance and Management from the University of Oregon and a J.D. degree from the University of California, Davis.
Britt is responsible for leading the company's human resources function, which includes talent management, training and development, strategic workforce planning, recruiting, compensation and benefits, and diversity initiatives. She ensures that “Clouderans” have a meaningful and rewarding work experience, influencing the company culture by reflecting the very best of open source: being collaborative, communicative and open. Prior to joining Cloudera, Britt held a variety of senior HR positions at VMware and Sun Microsystems while those companies experienced significant growth. Britt holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. Britt is passionate about ‘giving back’ to the community and is the executive sponsor ofCloudera Cares, the company’s employee-led and run philanthropic arm.
