Cloudera’s Basic Hadoop Training: Now Free Online

Exciting news: We’re providing our basic hadoop training for free online. We’ll still host basic courses live, but for folks who can’t make it to the Bay Area, or want to attend a more advanced training course first, we hope this proves useful.
There are 6 lectures, 2 hands-on activities, and 1 tutorial. We provide a virtual machine for the activities and tutorials so new users can get up and running right away. Topics include:
- Thinking at Scale
- MapReduce & HDFS
- Hadoop Ecosystem Tour
- Programming with Hadoop
- MapReduce Algorithms
- Working with Hive
We’ve also gotten set up with Get Satisfaction so you can discuss questions about the content with the community and Cloudera staff. This is also a great way for you to let us know what you’d like us to develop next.

I implemented the last example from the lecture about MapReduce algorithms as a Dumbo program, by the way. The code is listed in the following blog post, in case someone would want to have a look at it:
