Configuring Authentication for Cloudera Navigator Data Management

Users access Cloudera Navigator by means of a role-based privilege user account created in one of two different ways:

  • User account created in Cloudera Manager's internal user management system. This approach is best for creating the administrator account for setting up the system because only Full Administrator or Navigator Administrator user roles can be assigned to users created this way.
  • User accounts managed by an external service, specifically, your organization's Active Directory or LDAP service. This approach lets you assign Cloudera Navigator user roles to groups comprising the user accounts that should have those privileges.
The Cloudera Manager Full Administrator and Navigator Administrator user accounts are granted full access to Cloudera Navigator features and enable the administrator to configure the external authentication service for Cloudera Navigator users.
