9:10am - 9:45am - Cloudera Keynote: Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Future of Big Data Analytics

Presented by Amy O'Connor, Chief Data and Information Officer, Cloudera

Businesses and organizations of all sizes are suddenly flooded with data from a hyper-connected world and need solutions to analyze and act upon it. Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have emerged to help understand patterns in the data, predict outcomes, and prescribe the optimal actions to impact those outcomes. New use cases for machine learning are emerging every day – ranging from predictive maintenance and fraud detection to product recommendation engines and proactive customer support. Gain first-hand experience into how some of the world’s best organizations are using data-driven insights to grow their businesses, operate more efficiently and manage risk.

9:45am - 10:05am - The Democratization of Data

Presented by Laura Madsen, Director, Enterprise Analytics, Children's Minnesota

It is time to unleash the power of your data.  It’s easy to say but very hard to do. The pragmatic challenges with managing data will always exist; there will always be questions and concerns, it will never be perfect.  Someone will interpret it wrong.  Someone will release data that isn’t “correct”.  Someone will blame you, the software, and the data.  In this talk Laura Madsen will dissect twenty years of lessons learned down to one powerful and simple observation; none of that matters.

10:15am - 10:40am - Break

10:40am - 11:10am - Cloudera Fast Forward Labs: The Vision and the Challenge of Applied Machine Learning

Presented by Brian Goral, Business Manager, Cloudera Fast Forward Labs

Even with the incredible advances in Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI, general off-the-shelf software does not solve your specific business challenges. Just having large volumes of data isn’t enough. Tapping into and creating expertise in the implementation and operationalization of ML, along with adopting strategic views on ML in your firm, are now a vital tools for building competitive data products and achieving short- and long-term ROI in ML.

11:10am - 11:30am - Customer use case: CareFirst/SBP

Presented by Narendra Kambam, Director, Healthcare Analytics at CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield

11:30am - 12:00pm - Panel Discussion: The Road to Transformation: Accelerating Mission Success

Moderator:
Tim Solms, Vice President and General Manager, U.S. Public Sector, Cloudera

Panelists:
Christine Harney, Data Systems Engineer, Leidos
Charles Worthington, Chief Technology Officer, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
Jonathan Sullivan, Deputy Executive Director of the United States Digital Service at the Department of Health and Human Services

With the passage of the Modernizing Government Technology Act, the creation of a Technology Modernization Fund, and the recently-released President’s Management Agenda, government has kicked its IT modernization efforts into high gear. This elevated prioritization of modernization is changing the way agencies approach technology, encouraging agency leaders to lean more than ever on emerging technologies like cloud, data analytics and machine learning to accelerate transformation. During this conversation, federal and industry experts will discuss the state of federal IT, the challenges and opportunities that evolve with modernization, and the role of next-gen technology for the future of public service.

12:00pm - 1:00pm - Lunch

Afternoon breakout sessions

1:00pm - 2:00pm - Breakout Sessions

Option 1: Healthcare Analytics

Presenter: Yung-Tsi Bolon, Product Owner, Genomics Services, Be the Match / National Marrow Donor Program, and Nathan Salmon, Chief Architect, MetiStream, and Ryan Swenson, Senior Solutions Manager, Cloudera

Healthcare organizations are struggling to access their data and build meaningful interactive analytics that can be shared in an insightful and simple way with their patients, clinicians and staff in real-time. It takes too long, requires resources that many healthcare organizations do not have, and costs too much money. Accessing, integrating, and cleansing healthcare data can take over 60-70% of the effort, and deploying predictive analytics to an application can take even more time.

This session will feature a comprehensive overview as well as a demonstration of the MetiStream Ember platform that works with both Cloudera Enterprise and Data Science Workbench to enable the integration of a variety of complex data sets such as EHR, genomics, imaging and much more and build robust healthcare analytic models, allowing institutions to operationalize those models and insights in days vs. months. The offering from Cloudera and MetiStream allows healthcare and life sciences organizations to deliver insight, enhance genomic research and improve patient care.

Option 2: Extend Your Analytics Toolkit with Computational Simulations

Presenter: Richard Harmon, Industry and Solution Leader, Cloudera

Over the past 5 – 10 years financial institutions have made significant progress on their Big Data journeys. We have travelled through a period where data has been made more accessible through the adoption of data lakes and we have now moved on to looking for patterns in that data using AI and ML. These patterns are used to project into the future resulting into predictive analytics. However, this type of statistical analysis makes some big assumptions, such as past history being an indicator of future behaviors. As they look to make more informed decisions many organizations are moving towards prescriptive analytics, where the intelligence that has been gathered from data is used to simulate many possible futures. In this way we can move from intelligence to wisdom.

Option 3 - Federal Track: IT Modernization with Machine Learning and Data Science for the Enterprise

Presenter: David Kemp, Sales Engineer, Cloudera

Description: IT Modernization, Machine Learning and Data Science are terms that have become part of our business lexicon over the past ten years and the promise they offer to public sector organizations is immense. Discussions about modernization typically center on new hardware, software, or moving from on premise to the Cloud, however, this is just one piece of the equation. To embrace Machine Learning through Data Science, organizations must also consider advanced analytics and explore new methods of extracting information from data.  Come hear how Cloudera enables machine learning and data science and how that is an integral part of your IT Modernization.

2:00pm - 3:00pm - Breakout Sessions

Option 1: Advanced Analytics & BI

Presenter: Mark Chisam, Senior Sales Engineer, Cloudera

Whether it's around empowering analysts with self-service flexibility; running the business through real-time dashboards; migrating to cloud environments; or advancing insights with more complex workflows and data science, the requirements for business intelligence and analytics are rapidly changing. In this session, we will cover the key drivers for modernizing analytics, the supporting technologies and capabilities, and how you can ultimately get more value from your data all at a lower cost.
